Description
Leg LMG1811 data was collected during a 2018 research cruise by the NSF-supported R/V Laurence M. Gould. The dataset contains underway measurements from a voyage starting and ending in Punta Arenas, Chile, supporting global change studies in biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic disciplines. The data is provided by the organization SCIOPS.
Use Cases
Analyze temporal patterns of oceanographic conditions based on underway data collection.
Study biological and chemical changes in Antarctic waters based on the multidisciplinary research focus.
Model physical oceanographic processes in the Southern Ocean based on the cruise's operational area.
Correlate in-situ measurements with satellite observations based on the global change studies context.
Strengths
Data originates from a dedicated NSF-supported research icebreaker, suggesting high-quality instrumentation.
Supports multidisciplinary global change studies across biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic fields.
Limitations
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
