Description
NSF-supported research icebreaker R/V Laurence M. Gould collected this underway data during leg LMG9905 in 1999. The cruise operated in support of the U.S. Antarctic Program, conducting global change studies across biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic disciplines. This leg started and ended in Punta Arenas, Chile.
Use Cases
Analyzing temporal patterns in oceanographic conditions based on the underway time-series data.
Studying biological, chemical, and physical interactions in Antarctic waters based on the multidisciplinary research focus.
Modeling global change impacts on polar marine ecosystems based on the dataset's stated purpose.
Calibrating satellite or model data with in-situ vessel measurements from the Antarctic region.
Strengths
Data originates from the NSF-supported research icebreaker R/V Laurence M. Gould, a dedicated platform for Antarctic science.
Covers multiple scientific disciplines including biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic measurements.
Provides a specific temporal snapshot from a 1999 Antarctic research cruise (LMG9905).
