Description
The NSF-supported research icebreaker Laurence M. Gould collected this underway data set during leg LMG9909 in support of the U.S. Antarctic Program. The leg started and ended in Punta Arenas, Chile, and the data supports global change studies in biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic disciplines. The dataset was last updated on November 15, 1999.
Use Cases
Analyze temporal changes in oceanographic conditions based on underway data collection.
Study biological and chemical properties in Antarctic waters based on the described global change disciplines.
Model physical oceanographic processes along the vessel's cruise track.
Correlate in-situ measurements from the R/V Laurence M. Gould with other Antarctic environmental data.
Strengths
Data originates from the NSF-supported research icebreaker Laurence M. Gould, a dedicated platform for Antarctic science.
Covers multiple global change disciplines: biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic.
Provides a specific temporal snapshot from a 1999 Antarctic research cruise.
