Description
SCIOPS provides underway data from leg LMG9910 of the R/V Laurence M. Gould research icebreaker. This leg operated in support of the U.S. Antarctic Program, conducting global change studies in biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic disciplines. The cruise started and ended in Punta Arenas, Chile, and the data was last updated in December 1999.
Use Cases
Analyzing temporal patterns in oceanographic conditions based on underway data.
Studying biological and chemical changes in Antarctic waters based on the described global change studies.
Correlating physical oceanographic measurements with other Antarctic climate datasets.
Modeling ship-track environmental data for polar region research.
Strengths
Data originates from a dedicated NSF-supported research icebreaker, suggesting institutional credibility.
Covers multiple scientific disciplines (biological, chemical, physical, oceanographic) as stated in the description.
