Description
Leg NBP0001 of the R/V Nathaniel B. Palmer collected underway data during a research cruise that started and ended at McMurdo Station. The dataset, last updated in March 2000, was gathered by the NSF-supported icebreaker for global change studies in biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic disciplines. The data is associated with the organization SCIOPS.
Use Cases
Analyze temporal patterns in Antarctic marine environments based on the time-series underway data.
Study glacial history and its influence on oceanographic conditions in the Amundsen Sea region.
Model physical, chemical, or biological parameters for global change studies based on the multidisciplinary data collection.
Correlate ship-track data with other Antarctic datasets based on the McMurdo Station start and end points.
Strengths
Data originates from a dedicated NSF-supported research icebreaker, indicating a controlled collection environment.
