Description
Underway data was collected during leg NBP0106 of the R/V Nathaniel B. Palmer, an NSF-supported research icebreaker. The voyage operated in support of the U.S. Antarctic Program, conducting global change studies in biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic disciplines. The leg started and ended at Punta Arenas, Chile, and the dataset was last updated in November 2001.
Use Cases
Analyze temporal changes in oceanographic parameters based on the continuous underway data collection.
Study biological and chemical patterns in Antarctic waters based on the multidisciplinary research focus.
Model physical oceanographic conditions along the icebreaker's track based on the voyage route.
Correlate environmental measurements with other Antarctic datasets based on the stated global change studies.
Strengths
Data originates from a dedicated NSF-supported research icebreaker, suggesting a controlled collection environment.
Covers multiple scientific disciplines (biological, chemical, physical, oceanographic) as stated in the description.
