Description
Underway data was collected during leg NBP0208 of the R/V Nathaniel B. Palmer, an NSF-supported research icebreaker. The leg started and ended at Lyttelton, New Zealand, in support of the U.S. Antarctic Program. The dataset was last updated on December 11, 2002.
Use Cases
Analyze oceanographic conditions during transit based on the description of underway data collection.
Study temporal patterns in Antarctic marine environments based on the time-series nature of the data.
Model physical and chemical properties of Southern Ocean waters based on the described research disciplines.
Correlate vessel-track data with biological observations based on the mention of biological studies.
Strengths
Data originates from the NSF-supported research icebreaker R/V Nathaniel B. Palmer, a dedicated platform.
Supports studies across biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic disciplines for global change.
Provides a specific temporal reference with a last update date of 2002-12-11.
Limitations
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
