Description
2004 data from the NSF-supported research icebreaker R/V Nathaniel B. Palmer during leg NBP0402, which operated between McMurdo Station and the ice edge. The dataset contains underway measurements supporting global change studies in biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic disciplines. It was collected by the organization SCIOPS.
Use Cases
Modeling cross-slope water exchanges based on underway oceanographic measurements.
Analyzing temporal patterns in Antarctic marine environments based on time-series data.
Studying the physical properties of the Antarctic Slope Front based on collected underway data.
Correlating biological and chemical observations with physical oceanographic conditions from the same cruise.
Strengths
Data originates from a dedicated NSF-supported research icebreaker, suggesting high-quality collection methods.
Covers multiple oceanographic disciplines (biological, chemical, physical) for integrated analysis.
Limitations
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
