Description
Underway data was collected during leg NBP0407 of the NSF-supported research icebreaker R/V Nathaniel B. Palmer. The leg operated in support of the U.S. Antarctic Program, conducting global change studies in biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic disciplines. The voyage started and ended at Lyttelton, New Zealand.
Use Cases
Analyze physical oceanographic conditions based on underway data mentioned in the description
Study temporal patterns in marine biogeochemistry from Antarctic research cruise data
Model ship-track environmental transects based on the described voyage path
Correlate icebreaker operational data with concurrent scientific observations
Strengths
Data originates from a dedicated NSF-supported research icebreaker
Supports multidisciplinary global change studies across biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic fields
Covers a specific, documented voyage leg (NBP0407) with known start and end points
