Description
Underway data was collected during leg NBP0607 of the NSF-supported research icebreaker R/V Nathaniel B. Palmer. The cruise operated in support of the U.S. Antarctic Program, conducting global change studies in biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic disciplines. The leg started and ended at Punta Arenas, Chile, and the data was last updated in August 2006.
Use Cases
Analyze temporal patterns of oceanographic conditions based on underway data collection.
Study biological and chemical changes in Antarctic waters based on the described global change studies.
Model physical oceanographic processes in the Southern Ocean based on the cruise's operational focus.
Correlate underway sensor readings with specific cruise events or locations based on the time-series nature of the data.
Strengths
Data originates from a dedicated NSF-supported research icebreaker, suggesting a controlled collection environment.
Covers multiple scientific disciplines (biological, chemical, physical, oceanographic) as stated in the description.
Provides a specific temporal anchor with a last update date of 2006-08-27.
