Description
Antarctic research data was collected by the NSF-supported icebreaker R/V Nathaniel B. Palmer during leg NBP0704. The leg started and ended in Punta Arenas, Chile, and the dataset contains underway measurements for biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic global change studies. The data was last updated in June 2007.
Use Cases
Modeling Antarctic oceanographic conditions based on underway physical and chemical measurements.
Studying biological productivity in polar regions based on biological data collected during the cruise.
Analyzing temporal changes in marine environments based on the time-series nature of the underway data.
Calibrating satellite-derived ocean data with in-situ measurements from the Antarctic region.
Strengths
Data originates from a dedicated NSF-supported research icebreaker, suggesting high instrument quality.
