Description
The NSF-supported research icebreaker Nathaniel B. Palmer collected this underway data set during leg NBP1201. The voyage started at McMurdo Station and ended at Punta Arenas, Chile, supporting global change studies in biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic disciplines. The dataset was last updated on February 11, 2012.
Use Cases
Analyzing temporal changes in oceanographic conditions based on underway sensor data.
Studying biogeochemical cycles in Antarctic waters based on collected chemical and biological measurements.
Modeling physical oceanographic processes along a specific Antarctic transit route.
Correlating biological observations with environmental parameters from the multidisciplinary data.
Strengths
Data originates from a dedicated NSF-supported research icebreaker, indicating institutional credibility.
Covers a specific, documented transit leg between McMurdo Station and Punta Arenas, Chile.
Supports multidisciplinary global change studies across biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic fields.
