Description
1994 data from the NSF-supported research icebreaker Nathaniel B. Palmer, operating in support of the U.S. Antarctic Program. This set consists of underway data from leg NBP9403, which started and ended at Punta Arenas, Chile, for global change studies in biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic disciplines.
Use Cases
Analyze physical oceanographic conditions in Antarctic waters based on underway data.
Study biological and chemical changes in polar regions based on the vessel's global change studies.
Model vessel transit patterns and environmental conditions based on the time-series nature of the data.
Correlate in-situ measurements with satellite or other remote sensing data for the 1994 time period.
Strengths
Data originates from the NSF-supported research icebreaker Nathaniel B. Palmer, a dedicated platform for Antarctic science.
Supports multidisciplinary global change studies across biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic disciplines.
