Description
Eastern Wilkes Land coast of Antarctica is the region for this dataset of underway measurements from the NSF-supported research icebreaker Nathaniel B. Palmer during leg NBP9502. The data was collected in 1995 by the SCIOPS organization, supporting global change studies in biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic disciplines. The voyage started and ended at Lyttelton, New Zealand.
Use Cases
Study deep-water formation processes based on the physical oceanographic data collected off the Antarctic coast.
Analyze time-series trends in oceanographic conditions based on the underway data collection method.
Model Antarctic coastal circulation based on the geographic focus on the Eastern Wilkes Land coast.
Investigate interdisciplinary global change based on the description of biological, chemical, and physical data collection.
Strengths
Data originates from a dedicated NSF-supported research icebreaker, indicating a controlled collection environment.
Focuses on a specific, scientifically significant Antarctic region for deep-water formation studies.
Supports interdisciplinary analysis based on the description covering biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic disciplines.
