Description
R/V Nathaniel B. Palmer collected this data during its 1996 Antarctic research cruise, leg NBP9601. The NSF-supported icebreaker gathered underway data for global change studies in biological, chemical, physical, and oceanographic disciplines. The voyage started and ended at McMurdo Station.
Use Cases
Analyzing temporal patterns in oceanographic conditions based on the time-series underway data.
Studying the physical and chemical properties of the Eastern Ross Sea and Western Marie Byrd Land marine environment.
Correlating biological observations with concurrent physical and chemical measurements from the research vessel.
Investigating glacial marine stratigraphy and its relationship to contemporary oceanographic data.
Strengths
Data originates from a dedicated NSF-supported research icebreaker, indicating a scientific collection method.
