Description
The Paraíba do Sul River Estuary in Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil, is the location for this dataset of greenhouse gas concentrations and water parameters. It contains data from three spatial surveys in February 2017, October 2017, and March 2018, including a 24-hour time series. The dataset was authored by Luiz Cotovicz and is shared under a CC-BY-4.0 license.
Use Cases
Modeling CO2 partial pressure (pCO2) dynamics based on continuous in-situ measurements.
Analyzing methane (CH4) and nitrous oxide (N2O) concentrations across salinity gradients.
Investigating relationships between greenhouse gases and ancillary parameters like dissolved oxygen, pH, and nutrients.
Studying seasonal variability in estuarine greenhouse gas emissions based on dry and wet season surveys.
Strengths
Includes a 24-hour Eulerian time series with hourly discrete sampling for detailed diurnal analysis.
Surveys cover distinct hydrological conditions, with dry-season river discharge as low as 178 m³ s⁻¹ and wet-season discharge at 1240 m³ s⁻¹.
Data collection spans a full salinity gradient from 0 to 35, sampled at approximately three-unit intervals.
Limitations
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
The dataset is small at 35.4 KB, indicating a limited scope of observations.
