Description
Gulf of Maine Ocean Observing System (GoMOOS) buoy data provides real-time measurements of current, wave, temperature, salinity, optical, and meteorological variables. The dataset was published by NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) under accession 0001195. It covers a one-week period from October 5 to October 11, 2003.
Use Cases
Validating and calibrating regional oceanographic models (inferred from domain, verify after download)
Analyzing short-term correlations between meteorological forcing and oceanographic responses (inferred from domain, verify after download)
Assessing data quality and sensor performance for buoy-based observation networks (inferred from domain, verify after download)
Strengths
Published on the authoritative NASA Earthdata platform.
Sourced from NOAA NCEI, a trusted environmental data repository.
Covers multiple physical oceanographic and meteorological variables.
Limitations
Metadata is minimal; actual content requires verification after download.
