Description
A retrospective cohort dataset from pediatric patients admitted with abdominal pain to Children's Hospital St. Hedwig in Regensburg, Germany. It includes multiple abdominal B-mode ultrasound images, laboratory tests, physical examination results, clinical scores, and expert ultrasonographic findings for each subject. Subjects are labeled with three target variables: diagnosis, management, and severity of appendicitis.
Use Cases
Building a diagnostic classifier for appendicitis based on clinical scores and ultrasound findings.
Predicting the need for surgical management based on patient examination and test results.
Classifying appendicitis severity (complicated vs. uncomplicated) using multimodal clinical data.
Training image analysis models on abdominal ultrasound images to identify regions of interest like the appendix.
Strengths
Includes multiple data modalities: ultrasound images (1 to 15 views per patient), laboratory tests, physical exams, and clinical scores.
Provides three distinct clinical target variables for modeling: diagnosis, management, and severity.
Ethics approval from the University of Regensburg indicates a structured collection process.
