Michel Tuan Pham of Columbia University documented an empirical phenomenon where states of relaxation increase monetary valuations of products. The phenomenon was demonstrated in six experiments involving two relaxation induction methods, a large number of product types, and various valuation assessment methods. In all experiments, relaxed participants reported higher monetary valuations than participants in equally pleasant but less relaxed states.
