Description
World Bank data provides total gigawatt-hour (GWh) generation from renewable power plants. The dataset includes output from wind, solar PV, solar thermal, hydro, marine, geothermal, biomass, renewable municipal waste, liquid biofuels, and biogas sources. It is compiled by Sustainable Energy for All.
Use Cases
Analyze trends in hydro_generation GWh over time across different countries.
Compare solar_pv_output GWh against biomass_generation GWh to assess technology mix.
Model the correlation between geothermal_electricity GWh and regional geological factors.
Forecast future wind_energy GWh based on historical production data.
Benchmark national renewable_municipal_waste GWh against total renewable_electricity_output GWh.
Strengths
Covers multiple renewable sources including wind, solar, hydro, and biomass.
Excludes electricity from hydro pumped storage for clarity on net generation.
Limitations
Specific row count, column details, and temporal coverage are unknown.
Geographic scope and granularity (e.g., country-level) are unspecified.
Provenance
Source
World Bank, compiled by Sustainable Energy for All.
Collection Method
Aggregated from national reports and power plant data.
Hydro pumped storage generation is explicitly excluded from the total.
