Description
Replication Data for a step-by-step bromeliad sampling protocol summarizes aquatic macroinvertebrates sampled from tank bromeliads at Pitilla Biological Station, Guanacaste, Costa Rica. The dataset details invertebrate abundance and species, their traits, and bromeliad characteristics across 51 samples collected in 2019, 2022, and 2023. Author Diane Srivastava provides an R script to analyze four ecological patterns illustrated with plots.
Use Cases
Analyze invertebrate community composition based on species abundance data
Study relationships between bromeliad characteristics and associated fauna based on plant trait data
Model ecological patterns in micro-ecosystems using the provided R script and plot examples
Investigate trait-based ecology of aquatic invertebrates based on trait data
Strengths
Includes data from 51 bromeliad samples across three sampling years (2019, 2022, 2023)
Covers multiple data aspects: species abundance, invertebrate traits, and bromeliad characteristics
Provides an R script for reproducible analysis of four specific ecological patterns
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
