Description
2,208 country-quarter observations combine the top-10% pre-tax income share with monetary policy and macroeconomic indicators for 30 advanced and emerging economies from 2005Q1 to 2024Q4. The replication package by Altayligil, Yasin Baris includes a self-contained R script for reproducing all analyses from the associated manuscript. Data sources include the World Inequality Database, OECD, FRED, BIS, and the World Bank.
Use Cases
Estimate country-level ARDL models based on the described monetary policy and income share variables.
Conduct Pesaran-Shin-Smith bounds tests for cointegration based on the provided panel data.
Analyze long-run coefficients using the delta method based on the estimated relationships.
Perform unit-root screening (ADF and KPSS tests) on the macroeconomic time series.
Study the development status differential in policy impacts based on the country classifications.
Strengths
Includes 2,208 country-quarter observations covering a 20-year period from 2005Q1 to 2024Q4.
Combines data from five authoritative sources: World Inequality Database, OECD, FRED, BIS, and World Bank.
Provides a fully documented replication package with a self-contained R script, codebook, and outputs.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
The annual top income share data is converted to quarterly frequency via interpolation, which may introduce smoothing artifacts.
