Description
Yukon, Canada aeromagnetic data was reprocessed between November 2016 and March 2017. The work involved compiling and merging data of different resolutions to produce levelled images for each map sheet. The Government of Yukon produced four derivative magnetic field maps per 250k-scale sheet, available as PDFs, GeoTIFFs, and Geosoft grid files.
Use Cases
Geological interpretation based on Residual Total Magnetic Field maps
Mineral exploration targeting based on Reduced-to-Pole Magnetic Field (RTP) data
Structural analysis based on the First Vertical Derivative of the RTP (RTP_VD)
Edge detection of magnetic sources based on the Tilt Derivative of the RTP (RTP_TDR)
Strengths
Data was reprocessed and levelled for consistency across map sheets
Four distinct magnetic derivative maps are provided for each 250k-scale area
Output is available in three standard geospatial formats: PDF, GeoTIFF, and Geosoft grid
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
