Description
Between November 2016 and March 2017, aeromagnetic data for Yukon was compiled and merged from sources of different resolutions. The Government of Yukon produced a series of individually levelled images for each map sheet, generating four derivative magnetic field maps per 250k-scale map. These maps are provided as PDFs, GeoTIFFs, and Geosoft grid files.
Use Cases
Mineral exploration targeting based on magnetic anomaly patterns.
Geological mapping and structural interpretation based on derivative magnetic fields.
Integrating processed magnetic data with other geophysical or geological datasets.
Strengths
Data was reprocessed and levelled for consistency across map sheets.
Four specific derivative maps were produced for each 250k-scale map: Residual Total Magnetic Field, Reduced-to-Pole Magnetic Field, and its first vertical and tilt derivatives.
Data is provided in multiple standard geospatial formats: PDF, GeoTIFF, and Geosoft grid.
Limitations
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
Row count and specific data volume are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
