Description
Aurora Geosciences Ltd performed a review of publicly available digital magnetic geophysical data submitted with assessment reports to develop standardized products and compilations. Data submitted prior to March 2015 were considered, levelled, and integrated with 1:250,000 compilations. Four gridded PDFs have been produced, and original data can be found in YGS Open File 2017-33.
Use Cases
Analyze subsurface geological structures based on the residual total magnetic field data.
Interpret magnetic anomalies for mineral exploration based on the reduced-to-pole data.
Enhance edge detection of geological features based on the vertical derivative data.
Map subtle magnetic gradients based on the tilt derivative data.
Strengths
Data were levelled and integrated with 1:250,000 compilations, suggesting a standardized product.
Four derivative products (residual total magnetic field, reduced to pole, vertical derivative, tilt derivative) are provided.
Original data is referenced to a specific open file (YGS Open File 2017-33).
Limitations
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
