Description
Aurora Geosciences Ltd reprocessed publicly available digital magnetic geophysical data submitted with assessment reports prior to March 2015. Individual assessment report data were levelled and integrated with 1:250,000 compilations. Four gridded PDFs have been produced, including residual total magnetic field, reduced to pole, vertical derivative, and tilt derivative.
Use Cases
Interpret subsurface geological structures based on processed magnetic field grids.
Conduct mineral exploration targeting using derivative maps like vertical and tilt derivatives.
Integrate reprocessed magnetic data with other regional geophysical compilations.
Validate historical assessment report data against standardized regional compilations.
Strengths
Data integrated from multiple assessment reports into standardized 1:250,000 compilations.
Four distinct processed magnetic grids (residual, reduced to pole, vertical derivative, tilt derivative) are provided.
Original 250k geophysical data is documented in a referenced open file (YGS Open File 2017-39).
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Data may reflect temporal bias inherent to the source, as only data submitted prior to March 2015 were considered.
Provenance
Source
Government of Yukon
Collection Method
Reprocessing and levelling of publicly available digital magnetic data from assessment reports.
Time Range
Data submitted prior to March 2015.
Freshness
Last updated 2026-05-20 16:33:17.087959; freshness should be verified.
Geography
Yukon, Canada, specifically National Topographic System (NTS) map sheet 115J.
Data is provided in PDF grid format within a ZIP archive; specialized GIS or geophysical software may be required for analysis.
