Description
Reprocessing of magnetic data for Yukon was performed between November 2016 and March 2017. Aeromagnetic data were compiled, merged, and levelled to produce a series of images for each map sheet. The Government of Yukon produced four magnetic derivative maps per 250k-scale map sheet, available as PDFs, GeoTIFFs, and Geosoft grid files.
Use Cases
Mineral exploration targeting based on magnetic anomaly patterns from the Residual Total Magnetic Field maps.
Geological mapping and structural interpretation based on the Reduced-to-Pole Magnetic Field (RTP) maps.
Edge detection of subsurface magnetic bodies based on the First Vertical Derivative of the RTP maps.
Enhancing subtle magnetic features for interpretation based on the Tilt Derivative of the RTP maps.
Strengths
Data reprocessing was performed over a defined period from November 2016 to March 2017.
Four specific magnetic derivative products were generated for each 250k-scale map sheet.
Data is provided in three standard geospatial formats: PDF, GeoTIFF, and Geosoft grid files.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment for quantitative analysis.
Data may reflect geographic bias inherent to the specific NTS 115K map sheet area.
