Ten Key Ecological Features (KEFs) were identified by the Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts in the northwest marine region of Australia. Geoscience Australia investigated habitat heterogeneity for these features, which include the Wallaby Saddle and Scott Reef, to support marine bioregional planning. Seven of the ten KEFs are located in the deep sea, where biodiversity information is scarce.
