Australia's northwest marine region contains ten Key Ecological Features (KEFs) identified by the Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts. Geoscience Australia investigated habitat heterogeneity for these features, which include the Wallaby Saddle and Scott Reef, to support marine bioregional planning. Seven of the ten KEFs are located in the deep sea, an area where biodiversity information is scarce.
