From 14 December 2011 to 08 November 2016, salinity data was collected at Rib Reef on the Great Barrier Reef. The data was gathered by the Wireless Sensor Networks Facility, part of the Great Barrier Reef Ocean Observing System (GBROOS) and the Australian Integrated Marine Observing System (IMOS). It is hosted by the Australian Ocean Data Network.
Use Cases
- Analyze long-term salinity trends based on the five-year time series
- Model oceanographic conditions on the Great Barrier Reef based on sensor network data
- Correlate salinity changes with other environmental factors based on the reef monitoring context
Strengths
- Covers a five-year time series from 2011 to 2016
- Collected by a dedicated ocean observing system (GBROOS/IMOS)
Limitations
- Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
- Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
