Description
A cross-sectional study of 322 community-dwelling older women with a recent episode of acute low back pain, assessing the risk of sarcopenia. The research was conducted as part of the Back Complaints in the Elders (BACE) epidemiological study. Data includes walking speed, grip strength, pain intensity, and mobility/balance measurements.
Use Cases
Predicting sarcopenia risk based on pain intensity and mobility scores mentioned in the description
Analyzing the correlation between low back pain and functional decline in older women based on the study's findings
Training models to assess mobility impairment using metrics like the Timed Up and Go test described in the study
Strengths
Includes data from 322 participants, providing a substantive sample size for analysis
Reports specific clinical measurements: walking speed (4.6 m), grip strength, pain index, and Timed Up and Go test
Contains a defined outcome: 54% (173 patients) were identified as at risk for sarcopenia
