Description
A series of maps showing water monitoring gauging stations across New South Wales, created as part of a major project in 2011. The maps categorize stations as active with significant data, active without significant data, or discontinued as of March 2011. They were produced by the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water and incorporate spatial data from NSW Spatial Services and Geoscience Australia.
Use Cases

Analyze the distribution of active versus discontinued gauging stations across river basins.
Support water level and flood activity predictions using the mapped station network.
Plan field work or data collection by identifying legacy monitoring sites.
Strengths
Maps categorize stations into three distinct operational statuses as of March 2011.
Incorporates authoritative foundational spatial datasets from NSW Spatial Services and Geoscience Australia.
Provides both individual catchment maps and a consolidated atlas PDF for printing at A3 size.
Limitations
Data disclaimer states the maps have not been updated since the project completion in March 2011.
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
