Description
Mouse liver samples from the Rodent Research-1 National Lab experiment were analyzed to study the effect of microgravity on muscle wasting. RNA-Seq, whole genome bisulfite sequencing, and proteomic expression profiling were performed on samples from Flight, Ground Control, and Basal Control groups. The data was generated by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
Use Cases
Identify gene expression changes in liver tissue based on RNA-Seq data mentioned in the description
Study epigenetic modifications under microgravity based on whole genome bisulfite sequencing data
Analyze protein expression profiles in response to spaceflight based on proteomic data
Compare molecular responses across Flight, Ground Control, and Basal Control groups described in the experiment
Strengths
Data integrates multiple omics layers: transcriptomic, epigenomic, and proteomic
Includes controlled experimental groups: Flight, Ground Control, and Basal Control
Samples were collected on-orbit for the Flight group, providing direct spaceflight exposure data
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
Data is stored in BIN format, which may require specialized tools for access and analysis
Provenance
Source
National Aeronautics and Space Administration
Collection Method
Experimental data from the Rodent Research-1 (RR-1 CASIS) validation flight, with samples processed on-orbit and on the ground.
Time Range
Samples were dissected 21 or 22 days after launch for the Flight group.
