Description
From 2016-08-09 to 2016-09-02, the Rosetta spacecraft's OSIRIS Narrow Angle Camera captured uncalibrated image data of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. This NASA dataset, version 3.0, contains raw digital number (DN) units and includes updates from 2018 peer reviews, improved documentation, and enhanced data quality flags.
Use Cases
Analyze comet surface morphology based on uncalibrated image data.
Study temporal changes on comet 67P based on imagery from a specific mission phase.
Perform instrument calibration or validation using the raw digital number units.
Investigate image quality issues documented in the updated headers and guides.
Strengths
Data covers a defined period from 2016-08 09 to 2016-09-02.
Version 3.0 incorporates corrections from 2018 external peer reviews.
Documentation includes a user guide with FAQ and image quality sections.
Limitations
Data is uncalibrated (in DN units), requiring processing for scientific analysis.
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and file formats are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
