Description
OSIRIS Narrow Angle Camera image data from the Rosetta spacecraft's extension 1 mission phase, radiometrically calibrated and geometrically corrected to reflectance units. The dataset covers observations of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko from January 12 to February 9, 2016. This version V1.0 is the first release from NASA, corrected after an external peer review in October 2018.
Use Cases
Analyze comet surface reflectance properties based on calibrated image data.
Study geometric features and terrain on comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko.
Validate or develop image processing algorithms for spaceborne camera data.
Conduct temporal analysis of cometary activity during the specified 2016 observation period.
Strengths
Data is radiometrically calibrated and geometrically distortion-corrected (CODMAC level 4).
Covers a defined observation period from 2016-01-12 to 2016-02-09.
Dataset version V1.0 incorporates corrections from an October 2018 external peer review.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and file size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
