Description
OSIRIS Narrow Angle Camera images of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, radiometrically calibrated in W/m^2/sr/nm and geometrically corrected. This V2.0 dataset from NASA covers the ROSETTA EXTENSION 1 phase from January 12 to February 9, 2016, incorporating updates from a 2018 peer review. It supersedes previous versions with improved documentation, added filter bandpass details, and enhanced handling of image quality issues like shutter backtravel.
Use Cases
Analyze comet surface morphology and changes based on calibrated narrow-angle imagery
Study cometary activity and outgassing patterns using radiometrically calibrated data
Validate geometric correction and resampling algorithms for planetary image data
Assess image quality and instrument performance using documented shutter and readout issues
Strengths
Data is radiometrically calibrated to physical units (W/m^2/sr/nm) and geometrically corrected
Version V2.0 incorporates corrections from an October 2018 external peer review
Documentation includes a dedicated section on bandpass filters and an updated user guide with FAQs
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
Row count and file size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
