Description
From March 8 to April 5, 2016, the OSIRIS Narrow Angle Camera on the Rosetta spacecraft captured calibrated images of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. This CODMAC level 4 dataset contains stray-light corrected, radiometrically calibrated, and geometrically distortion corrected image data in units of W/m^2/sr/nm. The dataset was produced by NASA and represents the first version (V1.0) following an external peer review in October 2018.
Use Cases
Analyzing comet surface morphology and activity based on calibrated, high-resolution imagery.
Studying temporal changes in comet brightness and features during the specified mission phase.
Training machine learning models for feature detection on processed planetary images.
Validating radiometric calibration and stray-light correction techniques for spaceborne instruments.
Strengths
Data is processed to CODMAC level 4, indicating radiometric calibration and geometric correction.
Covers a defined period from 2016-03-08 to 2016-04-05, providing temporal specificity.
Target is explicitly identified as comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko.
Dataset versioning is documented as the first version (V1.0) following an external peer review.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and file size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Data may reflect temporal and instrumental bias inherent to the specific Rosetta mission phase.
