Description
OSIRIS Narrow Angle Camera image data from the Rosetta spacecraft's EXTENSION 2 mission phase, covering the period from 2016-04 05T23:25:00.000 to 2016-05-03T23:25:00.000. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration produced this radiometrically calibrated and geometrically corrected dataset, with comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko as the prime target. This V1.0 version is the first release, corrected after an October 2018 external peer review.
Use Cases
Analyze cometary surface features and morphology based on calibrated reflectance imagery.
Study temporal changes on comet 67P's nucleus based on images from a defined mission phase.
Validate or develop image processing algorithms for spaceborne camera data based on the radiometric and geometric corrections described.
Strengths
Data is radiometrically calibrated and geometrically distortion corrected.
Covers a specific mission phase from 2016-04-05 to 2016-05-03.
First version (V1.0) released after an external peer review in October 2018.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and file size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
