Description
From 2016-05-31 to 2016-06-28, the OSIRIS Narrow Angle Camera on the Rosetta spacecraft acquired calibrated image data of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. This CODMAC level 4 dataset contains radiometric and geometrically corrected images in units of W/m^2/sr/nm, produced by NASA. The V2.0 version includes updates from a 2018 peer review, improved documentation, and enhanced handling of data quality issues.
Use Cases
Analyzing cometary surface morphology and changes based on calibrated narrow-angle images.
Studying the photometric properties of comet 67P based on radiometric data in W/m^2/sr/nm.
Validating image processing pipelines for spacecraft data based on the documented geometric correction and calibration.
Investigating temporal changes in comet activity during the specified mission phase.
Strengths
Data is radiometrically calibrated and geometrically distortion-corrected to CODMAC level 4 standards.
Dataset version V2.0 incorporates corrections from an October 2018 external peer review.
Documentation includes a user guide with FAQ and image quality sections, and a bandpass filter document.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and file size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
