Description
OSIRIS Narrow Angle Camera image data of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, radiometrically calibrated and geometrically corrected to reflectance units. The dataset covers a specific mission phase from July 26 to August 9, 2016, and was produced by NASA. This version V1.0 is the first release, corrected following an external peer review in October 2018.
Use Cases
Analyze comet surface albedo and reflectance properties based on calibrated reflectance units.
Study geometric features and terrain on comet 67P based on distortion-corrected image data.
Conduct temporal analysis of cometary activity during the specified two-week mission phase.
Validate or compare radiometric calibration techniques for space-based instrumentation.
Strengths
Data is radiometrically calibrated and geometrically distortion-corrected, indicating processed scientific quality.
Covers a defined 14-day period from 2016-07-26 to 2016-08-09, providing temporal specificity.
Dataset version V1.0 is noted as corrected after an external peer review, suggesting quality control.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and file size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
