Description
OSIRIS Narrow Angle Camera image data from the Rosetta spacecraft's EXTENSION 3 mission phase, covering the period from 2016-08 09T23:25:00.000 to 2016-09-02T06:39:59.000. The dataset contains solar stray-light corrected, radiometric calibrated, and geometric distortion corrected image data in reflectance units, with the prime target being comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. This V1.0 version is the first release of this dataset, produced by NASA.
Use Cases
Analyzing comet surface morphology and albedo variations based on calibrated reflectance imagery.
Training computer vision models for feature detection on comet surfaces based on high-resolution space imagery.
Studying temporal changes on the comet's surface during the specified mission phase.
Validating photometric and geometric correction algorithms for spaceborne camera data.
Strengths
Data is processed to CODMAC level 4, indicating solar stray-light corrected, radiometric calibrated, and geometric distortion corrected imagery.
Covers a specific temporal range from 2016-08-09 to 2016-09-02, providing a focused observational window.
Dataset has undergone an external peer review process as indicated by the description of the Lien correction.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count, file formats, and dataset size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
