Description
From August 9 to September 2, 2016, the OSIRIS Narrow Angle Camera on the Rosetta spacecraft acquired calibrated and corrected image data of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. This version 1.0 dataset contains reflectance images from the ROSETTA EXTENSION 3 mission phase, processed after an external peer review in October 2018. The data is provided by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
Use Cases
Analyzing comet surface albedo and photometric properties based on calibrated reflectance data.
Studying the geometric features and morphology of comet 67P based on distortion-corrected images.
Monitoring temporal changes on the comet's surface during the specified mission phase.
Strengths
Data is radiometrically calibrated and geometrically distortion-corrected, indicating a processed scientific product.
Covers a specific 24-day observation period from the Rosetta mission's extension phase.
Dataset versioning (V1.0) and a documented peer review process suggest formal quality control.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and file size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
