Description
NASA's ROSETTA-ORBITER 67P OSINAC 4 EXT3-MTP034 RDR V2.0 dataset contains radiometric and geometric distortion corrected image data from the OSIRIS Narrow Angle Camera. The data covers the period from 2016-09-02 to 2016-09 26, with the prime target being comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. This version 2.0 supersedes previous deliveries with corrections, updated documentation, and improved handling of images with missing packets.
Use Cases
Analyzing cometary surface morphology and features based on calibrated narrow-angle camera imagery.
Studying temporal changes on comet 67P's surface based on the September 2016 observation period.
Developing or validating radiometric calibration pipelines based on the documented W/m^2/sr/nm units.
Assessing image data quality for scientific analysis based on the included quality maps and documentation.
Strengths
Data is radiometrically calibrated and geometrically distortion corrected, providing a processed scientific product.
Covers a specific 24-day observation period from 2016-09-02 to 2016-09-26.
Version 2.0 includes corrections from an external peer review and updated documentation on bandpass filters and data quality.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and file size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
