Description
OSIRIS Narrow Angle Camera image data of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, processed to reflectance units. The dataset contains solar and in-field stray-light corrected, radiometrically calibrated, and geometrically distortion corrected images. It was acquired by the Rosetta spacecraft during the ROSETTA EXTENSION 3 mission phase from 2016-09 26 to 2016-10-01 and is published by NASA as version V1.0.
Use Cases
Analyze cometary surface reflectance and albedo based on the normalized reflectance units.
Study cometary morphology and geology based on the geometrically corrected image data.
Model photometric properties based on the stray-light and radiometric corrections mentioned in the description.
Track temporal changes on the comet's surface during the specified mission phase.
Strengths
Data is processed to CODMAC level 4, indicating high calibration and correction standards.
Images are corrected for solar stray-light, in-field stray-light, radiometry, and geometric distortion.
Covers a specific mission phase from 2016-09-26 to 2016-10-01, providing temporal context.
Target is the well-studied comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
