Description
Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko is the prime target of this dataset. It contains solar stray light corrected, radiometric calibrated, and geometric distortion corrected image data in reflectance units, acquired by the OSIRIS Narrow Angle Camera on the Rosetta spacecraft during the PRELANDING mission phase. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration produced this first version (V1.0) of the dataset, covering the period from 2014-01-20T10:00:00.000 to 2014-05-07T12:47:59.000.
Use Cases
Analyze comet surface morphology and albedo based on calibrated reflectance image data.
Study temporal changes in comet features during the pre-landing phase based on the specified time range.
Validate geometric correction algorithms for spacecraft imagery based on the described distortion correction.
Perform photometric analysis of comet 67P based on radiometric calibrated data.
Strengths
Data is corrected for solar stray light, radiometric calibration, and geometric distortion.
Coverage spans a defined period from 2014-01-20 to 2014-05-07.
Dataset is a peer-reviewed, corrected version (V1.0) following an October 2018 PSA/PDS external review.
Limitations
