Description
Solar stray-light corrected, radiometrically calibrated image data in reflectance units acquired by the OSIRIS Narrow Angle Camera on the Rosetta spacecraft. The dataset covers the period from 2014-01-20 to 2014-05-07, targeting comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. This version V1.0 is the first version of this dataset, corrected after a 2019 external peer review.
Use Cases
Analyzing comet surface features and morphology based on calibrated reflectance images.
Training computer vision models for automated feature detection on comet surfaces.
Studying temporal changes on the comet's nucleus during the prelanding approach phase.
Validating photometric models using the stray-light corrected and normalized reflectance data.
Strengths
Data is processed to CODMAC level 4, indicating radiometric calibration and geometric correction.
Images are corrected for solar and in-field stray light, enhancing scientific utility.
Covers a defined prelanding mission phase from January to May 2014.
Dataset versioning indicates peer-reviewed corrections (V1.0 after September 2019 review).
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and file size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Data may reflect temporal bias inherent to the specific Rosetta mission phase.
