Description
NASA's CODMAC level 4 dataset contains solar stray light corrected, radiometric calibrated, and geometric distortion corrected image data in reflectance units. The data was acquired by the OSIRIS Narrow Angle Camera on the Rosetta spacecraft during the PRELANDING mission phase from May to June 2014. This V1.0 dataset, corrected after an October 2018 peer review, targets comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko.
Use Cases
Analyzing comet surface reflectance properties based on calibrated image data.
Studying the morphology and features of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko based on high-resolution imagery.
Training computer vision models for planetary feature detection based on processed space imagery.
Validating geometric correction and radiometric calibration algorithms for spacecraft camera data.
Strengths
Data is processed to CODMAC level 4, indicating solar stray light correction, radiometric calibration, and geometric distortion correction.
Covers a specific mission phase (PRELANDING) from 2014-05-07 to 2014-06-04.
Dataset version V1.0 reflects corrections made after an external peer review in October 2018.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and file size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
