Description
OSIRIS Narrow Angle Camera image data from the Rosetta spacecraft's PRELANDING mission phase. The dataset contains solar stray light corrected, radiometric calibrated, and geometric distortion corrected images in reflectance units, targeting comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. The data covers the period from June 4, 2014 to July 2, 2014 and is version V1.0, a corrected dataset after an October 2018 external peer review.
Use Cases
Analyzing comet surface reflectance and albedo based on calibrated reflectance units.
Studying geometric features and morphology of comet 67P based on corrected image data.
Developing calibration and correction algorithms for spacecraft cameras based on the described processing steps.
Monitoring temporal changes on the comet's surface during the pre-landing phase based on the specified date range.
Strengths
Data is processed to level 4 (CODMAC), indicating solar stray light correction, radiometric calibration, and geometric distortion correction.
Dataset covers a specific temporal window from 2014-06-04T10:50:00.000 to 2014-07-02T08:34:59.000.
Target is explicitly defined as comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko 1 (1969 R1).
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
