Description
Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko is the prime target of this image dataset from the Rosetta spacecraft's OSIRIS Narrow Angle Camera. The data covers a period from 2014-06-04 to 2014-07-02 and has been processed to correct for solar stray light, radiometric calibration, and geometric distortion. This version V1.0 is the first release from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, corrected after an October 2018 external peer review.
Use Cases
Analyze comet surface morphology and features based on calibrated, high-resolution imagery.
Study temporal changes in comet activity during the pre-landing mission phase.
Validate and refine photometric models using radiometrically calibrated data in W/m^2/sr/nm.
Strengths
Data is corrected for solar stray light, radiometrically calibrated, and geometrically distortion-corrected.
Covers a specific mission phase from 2014-06-04T10:50:00.000 to 2014-07-02T08:34:59.000.
Dataset version V1.0 is the first release, corrected after an October 2018 external peer review.
