Description
From July 2, 2014 to August 1, 2014, the OSIRIS Narrow Angle Camera on the Rosetta spacecraft acquired calibrated reflectance images of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko during the PRELANDING mission phase. This dataset contains radiometric calibrated and geometric distortion corrected image data in reflectance units. The data was produced by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and is version V1.0, corrected after an October 2018 external peer review.
Use Cases
Analyzing comet surface albedo and reflectance properties based on radiometric calibrated image data.
Studying comet morphology and topography based on geometric distortion corrected images.
Training models for automated feature detection on planetary surfaces based on calibrated reflectance imagery.
Validating photometric models of comet surfaces based on normalized reflectance units.
Comparing surface changes over time based on images from a specific mission phase (PRELANDING).
Strengths
Data is radiometric calibrated and geometric distortion corrected, indicating processed scientific quality.
Coverage spans a defined period from 2014-07-02T08:35:00.000 to 2014-08-01T09:59:59.000.
Dataset is version V1.0 and has undergone an external peer review process in October 2018.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
